Val inwardly groaned as another cannon sounded and Georgia dropped dead, an arrow threw her chest. What the hell was with everyone using bows this year anyways? If you were to ask her, Val would tell you that she'd have swept this years crop, but to be honest she might not have faired as well in such an open environment. The dense jungle of her year lent itself to her strengths far better than the dry desert climate of this year's Games.
On the outside however, Val's face was one of indifference. She'd failed again and it was tearing her apart inside. Nevermind that fact that she hadn't actually succeeded in anything since being crowned victor herself. Sure she could get you sponsorships... She was actually quite good at that, but she couldn't teach ruthlessness - and that was exactly what you needed to win.
Letting out an annoyed sigh, Val dropped into one of the large comfortable armchairs beside Montella Pervour. The young District Five victor barely looked like an adult while Val exuded feminine appeal. Part of her envied the girl. The Capitol wasn't whoring her out and probably wouldn't. Unfortunately for the athletic beauty she'd been painted a sex symbol by her own mentor and the theme had obviously carried through. As she looked at Monte, Val idly wondered whether or not she'd get to stay in her own bed tonight.
Perhaps Monty had noticed Val staring because eventually she turned to look at Val. "What?" The taller woman asked in an accusatory tone, nevermind that she had been the one looking first.

Montella was the first in the room before the Games had started; she wanted refuge away from all of the cameras. She had simply sat as the Voice went off of the oh so popular Raphael Rickson started the next round of gore. A scowl was painted across her face to the point her nose was wrinkled in disgust from the whole event. This room was at least partially private with her fellow Victors amongst her. They wouldn't speak to the Capitol about the distastes they shared.
She winced once as she saw the boy from her District get speared through the chest. Her eyes turned away from the screen and she was staring at the floor. The light brown orbs only wandered back to the big screen the Victors shared when she heard another Cannon for the District 2 girl. She hadn't caught the girl tribute's name she noted, but Monte's thought was interrupted as she jumped slightly when she heard Val settle into the chair next to her.
Her eyes lay on Val briefly, wondering what was going through her mind since her tributes had already died before her eyes straightened themselves back to the screen. Her gut was twisting as she saw the deaths; this was only her third Games to actually be a mentor after all and she was feeling queezy again. The Cannon roared again - the girl from District 5 also fell dead and Monte's eyes darkened.
Monte's muscles had stiffened up and her eyes slowly shut as she locked down a bit. This was still tearing her insides out even after the previous years. The other Victors had warned her, some had even pitted her, when she had stepped into the room with them for the first year. With hesitation, she took notice the fact someone was staring at her.
She opened her eyes and scanned the room briefly before her eyes met Val's face. The other Victor had been looking at her. Monte gave a soft huff of air when she heard the tone of Val's voice. "I was wondering the same thing Valeria." Her own tone in a defensive stance against the, obviously, stronger woman. She let her eyes drift over Valeria's face, attempting to read her, but knowing she wouldn't get much if anything. "Pardon the... disrespect." She knew the Victor sitting next to her was her elder - in age and in Victor terms - and she had planned to at least treat her slightly with such.

"Pardon the... disrespect."
In Val's mind all pretense of respect had been dropped at the girl's earlier words. Many of the other victors would have just let it go. Some because they actually feared her, others because they knew what the gorgeous young woman had to go through and still more simply because they didn't feel like dealing with her. But not Monte.
"Listen to me little girl," Val shot back angrily as she got to her feet standing a few inches over six feet with the heels she'd been instructed to wear. "Don't let this slutty outfit fool you," she spat. It didn't stop at the shoes, Val like many of the other victors was not allowed to dress herself. Still, her outfit was certainly one of the more revealing - if she was going to appear on television then the Capitol was determined that she would appear as desirable as possible. "I can still rip your head off," she continued as she stalked off to the bar.
The two women had developed a bit of an audience as many of the other victors, escorts, gamemakers and even avoxes looked on. None of them mattered to Val though. In her mind there was just her father and brother, everyone else could go to hell as far as she was concerned. Still, it wasn't as if there wasn't room in heart for more. While Val was very often outwardly hostile, she really could be a kind loving person if only there were someone patient enough to allow Val to become comfortable with them.
Without being instructed, the avox behind the bar silently produced Val's usual drink. Apparently the tongueless young man had been instructed as to how some of the victors took their liquor and it was a good thing too - Val's patience was running low.

Monte raised her brow as she saw Val get up from her chair. A smug smirk slid across her lips as she heard Val begin to speak. Slowly, Montella rose from her chair as well and stood evenly in front of the other Victor. Her brown eyes peered at her with an unfazed gaze. She remained in silence as Val finished her sentences, but the smug look didn't fade; nor was the queezy feeling from the death she had just witnessed.
"I have no doubt in my mind you could do so Valeria. I, however, would rather enjoy avoiding that fight. Perhaps Raphael will enjoy your company tonight." Montella crossed her arms over her chest and simply looked at the older Victor. "Because I personally do not take kindly to some Career threatening me." With that, Monte turned away from Val and made her way to the bar, but not for a drink.
She picked up one of the waters off the corner of the bar and turned her eyes firmly onto Val. She had prided herself not getting into anything after the Games; she wanted to remain as aware, and sober, as possible for her Tributes even if she knew they were to die. "Maybe you'll learn to show off a little less not to be used then." Monte muttered at Val.
Unlike her Victor acquaintance, Monte was little to show off; let alone something the Capitol would use. She didn't have the looks and she definitely was too smart to be used in some of the ways they had tried. Instead of making her "useful" so to speak, they must have turned much more quickly to those who actually were easy to get to. Monte, unlike Val, had already lost all living connections to her other than her little kitten that was wandering the room somewhere. What was the point of killing a cat after all?
With a swig of water, Monte let her eyes turn away from Val and back to the screen. District 1 and their new partners had began to kill off everyone left in the bloodbath. That was the worst picked moment for Monte to look at the screen; Blood had came everywhere as one of the lower tributes lost their leg. Monte dropped her water and pushed her way past Val back towards the back where the private bathrooms were. She was about to lose what little food she had managed to eat as the few behind her were muttering that she had gotten them all wet from the water splashing all over the floor.

"It's not a threat, it's a promise..." Val muttered to herself as she sipped her drink. She wasn't exactly an alcoholic. No, the Capitol would never allow such a thing, but sometimes it did help to take the edge off of her hell of a reality.
"Maybe you'll learn to show off a little less not to be used then."
Show off? Val was speechless which was really saying something for her. Did Montella honestly think that Val had chosen to parade herself around like a whore? A very very expensive one, but a whore nonetheless. Perhaps the girl really didn't know - it wasn't exactly common knowledge and Val tried to keep that in mind as she watched the carnage play out on the screens. Looking over at Monte, Val wondered if the Capitol even had any hold over her and if they did what would they use it for? It seemed foolish to that she would just openly argue with another victor that way... then again they were behind closed doors. And that was when the girl got sick.
Making up her mind, Val set down her drink followed the other woman into the bathroom her heels clicking as she walked. "How did you ever stomach killing the other tributes?" Alex asked bluntly as she leaned against the wall. She couldn't quite remember, maybe Monte had gotten sick then too?
Once the younger girl had finished losing her lunch, Val handed her a towel. "We should talk," she said with little emotion. "I'll be up on the roof," she added as she turned to leave.
There was a light breeze blowing and while they would likely be monitored up here too, Val at least felt more comfortable up here. Picking up a small pebble, Val tossed it into the force field before catching it again as it was tossed back at her. She'd never seriously considered it, but even if she'd wanted, she couldn't even kill herself on her own terms.
Val sighed as she waited for Monte, not even sure if the girl would come. It wasn't as if the statuesque brunette had been kind to her. Still, she had to realize that Val wouldn't have asked her up here if it wasn't important.

Montella grimanced when she heard the door open. No doubt it was Val to pick at her some more she figured. For obvious reasons, she didn't turn until she was finished losing the rest of it. She ran her fingers back through her hair, pulling the stray strands back behind her ear as she made a face. Her face turned into a scowl as she heard Valeria ask about the other tributes.
"I ran rather quickly for a 14 year old and I knew how to use a wire to let electricity do the dirty work." Monte replied with a rather obvious defensive tone in her voice. This time she actually felt slightly threatened, she was, after all, in a very vulnerable spot on the floor. Confusion crossed her face as Valeria had offered her a towel.
Monte took it and began to wipe her face clean - most of it was stomach acids and water after all. She watched the older Victor in utter confusion as she spoke again. The roof? Monte had only been up to the roof once. She had followed her District Mate up there to just look around one day while they had skipped out on half of a training day. Before she could sum up and answer Val, she heard the door close before she registered that Valeria had gone out it.
She slowly picked herself up off the ground and went to the sink to properly clean her face and hands before revealing herself to the others again. With the new found questions spinning through her mind, her face looked perpetually blank almost. When she saw the look in the mirror she figured she would pass off as grieving at least, with that she left the bathroom.
Monte shivered as she stared at the elevator that lead up to the roof. She had pulled on a light jacket over her sweat shirt and was still getting the chills from the AC blowing out its air. Her eyes glanced up and down the hallways before she stepped into the awaiting elevator and pressed the smooth round button that made the machine go up to the roof.
Her foot began to tap on the ground as the few moments the elevator took seemed like minutes. She hated elevators, they were way to small for her liking just like the crawlspaces were in some of the houses her parents fixed. Shaking her head, she froze when the elevator doors opened to the roof. She looked out of the steel contraption with a slight feeling of fear passing over her for an unknown reason. She was beginning to feel like a fleeting rabbit.
Hesitantly, as the doors were closing, Montella came out of the elevator and onto the roof. She looked around for Valeria and began to approach her when she saw her throwing a rock over the edge and catching it again. Her shoes were making little noise with her lightweight, but she figured she'd be heard as she approached since Val was trained in hunting afterall.

"I knew how to use a wire to let electricity do the dirty work."
Val had seen the girl's Games and knew what she'd done. What she'd really been asking was how the young girl handled it all. She clearly wasn't one for blood and gore, her empty stomach was proof of that. Still, Val wasn't going to push the issue, Montella didn't exactly seem to be in the best of condition at the moment and pestering her about how she felt about killing others really didn't seem like the most prudent thing to do at the moment.
The statuesque victor heard the door open and close as Montella emerged out onto the roof and moved towards her. Dropping the rock at her feet, Val turned to face the shorter woman. She really did give off a dominating vibe, her eyes cold but not unfeeling. And there was a certain sadness to them as she turned to face the other victor. "How much do you know about me?" Val asked cautiously. She honestly didn't think that there was much harm in telling Montella all of this, but one could never be too careful with the Capitol, especially regarding matters such as this.
"Do you honestly think I'd tart myself up like this if it was up to me?" Val asked, honestly curious. "You remember how I won my Games? Well I mean I brutally killed the thirteen other tributes, but do you know how I earned sponsors?" Of course Val would have gotten sponsors having earned a twelve in her training session, but there was more to it than that. "They dressed me up like a little slut, made me sexy and I went along with it. Naturally, the good people in the Capitol wanted more..." she continued, her voice trailing off unable to keep going.
After a brief pause, she began again. "You have no idea, the things I've had to do..."

Montella tilted her head at Val as she turned to her. She knew that the other Victor could tell she was in a fearful mind set - even if neither of them completely understood what was going on with it. Her head tilted to one side as Val asked her question. It made Montella pause as she honestly pondered it briefly. Slowly, she shook her head, looking at the ground. "Nothing other than your name, rumors, and well... the Games. I remember them, but nothing else really. Yours were the first I understood... I was 6 when you stepped into the Arena." Tentatively she added a side thought in as well, her voice barely above a whisper at her own remembrance, "I admired you, but you really scared me too. A little while after you won I decided I'd have to win like you if I was ever drawn for the Games."
She let her eyes go back to Val's as she finished. She was unsure whether or not Val was going to react badly to the end of the last comment. Her lips remained sealed as she listened to Val's questions. She had tossed Val in with all of the Careers - all they wanted to do was win to have the glory right? The thin lips slipped into a frown as she heard some of the obvious things she should have noticed if she hadn't been so judgmental.
Montella was stunned into silence, which was new for her since she typically chose to be silent instead of speechless. She didn't speak at all, not even in the moment of silence Val had let slip between them. She didn't know what to say; it all had seemed to obvious. However, she was still wondering in a childish matter if Careers actually had it that bad. Or maybe that was their punishment instead of wallowing in knowing when they got home they would basically be rejected by their District instead of welcomed home with open arms?
"No... I guess I don't." She admitted truthfully in a soft voice. Another shiver passed through her muscles as she pulled her jacket closer. She looked around the roof at the rest of the building around them. "It's all rather... morbid, even from a teenagers point of view." Having won the Games when she was 14 that left her with plenty of years to grow up still and to witness all of the new Games as they happened.

This wasn't an easy thing for Val to do at all. She only ever opened up about this very rarely and even then she usually had had a bit more liquid courage. Still, she felt it was necessary for Montella to know about it - not so much about Val herself but about the way the Capitol ran things, how they took advantage and how lucky she was that they couldn't hurt her the same way they could Val.
"...I admired you, but you really scared me too. A little while after you won I decided I'd have to win like you if I was ever drawn for the Games."
The corners of Val's full lips turned up in a sad smile. It really hadn't been what she'd been expecting to hear but at the same time she'd heard it a hundred times before. And the rumors... Yes, there were always plenty of those and regardless of how much truth there was to them, it certainly wasn't enough for someone to really give it much thought past the usual speculation other gossip got.
Monte really had been a bit prejudiced, but it was to be expected and Val didn't blame her... too much. And she was right about part of it, Val had been like many of the other careers she just wanted to win and she had. But that wasn't where the story ended. For her she may as well have never left that arena. Some of the things she'd been subjected to since then were worse than anything the gamemakers could have thrown at her. And Montella was right on another account, some careers got their happy endings, went home a hero and would go on to live their lives in relative content - but not all of them.
"No... I guess I don't."
"Well then let me tell you..." Val began, her face a mask of unfeeling indifference. "I was just getting settled in the Victor's Village back in Two when I got the first call. Of course they didn't give me details, just that I was needed back in the Capitol and I was on a train there that evening. The Victory Tour was over, everything had been... okay. And I thought I was going to start my - in my mind, well deserved retirement. But it wasn't to be," she continued, her voice wavering slightly which was incredibly uncharacteristic of her.
"I lost my virginity the following night," she managed, one solitary tear running down her breathtakingly beautiful face before she quickly wiped it away. "I was still just a girl, but it had been everything my mentor could do to postpone it as long as it had been - they'd wanted me since the day I was crowned victor... and they were willing to pay top dollar. Of course I've been heavily compensated and most of them buy me extravagant gifts. Some even try and romance me, but it's all the same. I'm just a piece of meat - a very expensive piece of meat, but still just something to be bought and sold. Sure they love me, or at least they think they do. But either way it's not real love..." Val said, pausing for a moment. "I've often wondered if they'll ever even allow me to marry... or if anyone would want me if they knew the truth." That was one of her greatest fears, ending up alone despite her legendary beauty. As desirable as she was on the outside, she was broken and twisted on the inside. And while it wouldn't be impossible to put her back together, she couldn't imagine many people wanting the job.
"So am I still as scary as I was all those years ago?" The gorgeous victor asked, as she waited for Monte's response.

Monte simply went silent as she watched the Victor. Her head titled slightly to one side now and again, almost like that of a domesticated pet who just wanted to listen to their owner if they were upset. Her light brown eyes were bright with curiosity, and some surprise of her own, amazement again. She was almost awed like she was a few years ago by the Victor standing in front of her. Not only did she suffer the Games, but instead of going back to Glory she was actually being used and that was when her mind turned back to Faye.
Faye was a little older than Montella, four or so years, and was two Games before her if she remembered right. Faye, like Valeria, were being used in the same way. Monte's lips twisted into a frown as she realized what was spinning through her mind. They weren't just mentally shutting them off to alcohol and the like, but using their bodies as well... Monte shook her head as her memories brought back Faye trying to get her into bed with her for the 'press' so to speak. She had, thankfully, rejected the offer, even being mostly drunk that day. This, however, still made two Victors Monte knew that were being used by the Capitol further than what she had originally heard.
Through all of her little flashbacks, Montella stayed tuned in with what Valeria was saying to her. It was strange how insecure the words sounded as Val got to end of her explanation. Or so, that was nearly how Monte was taking it even though the Older Victor showed no signs of insecurity other than a slightly wavering voice. She slowly let her eyes sink down to the ground from Val's as that slight silence set in for a moment.
She perked up again, looking up at Val's face when she asked her the question. A slightly timid smile slid across her lips as she spoke, "Considering you threatened me today and just told me all of that, no not really." She lifted her left hand up and ran it though her hair to push it back behind her ear in a near nervous gesture. "After all, we all have skeletons, some just more dusty than others."

Monte was silent and attentive throughout the entirety of Val's story. She'd kept the gruesome details out, but she was sure the younger girl understood. Part of her was really quite surprised that she'd even opened up like this. She'd only ever done it once before it had been a drunk mistake Still, somehow telling someone about all of this made her feel a little better - not good, certainly not that, but better. This was different, even though it wasn't even like the other victor could actually do anything about it or really even help her, but at least she knew now.
"After all, we all have skeletons..."
How true it was. The secrets that filled Val's pretty head - some of them were horrid, so unspeakable. Various fetishes of the rich and powerful of the Capitol... Some of them really made her sick, others just uncomfortable. Either way, they were all against her own true will. While she had grown to occasionally tolerate her misfortune, Val still hated it and unfortunately for here there was nothing she could do. They'd made it quite clear that her father's well being was directly connected to her cooperation. Her father, who'd been so supportive of her training, so happy when she volunteered and so proud of her victory. He had no idea about the sort of things she had to do just to keep him alive...
Skeletons... How easy it would be to just kill those soft Capitolites. Some of them wanted that rush of being choked or beaten - sometimes she wondered how easy it would be to make it look like an accident... And sometimes Val wondered if even keeping up the facade was worth it, but then she always remembered the last person she really cared for in this world. "I guess so," Val finally replied. "Well I guess I'm going to head back down," she added as she moved past her fellow victor and back inside towards the elevators.
After returning to the Mentor Control Room, Val made her way back to the bar where the avox had a drink waiting for her.

Monte shook her head a bit. She wasn't sure what she'd do with the information she was just given, but she didn't deny Val beginning to return to the control room. "I'll be down shortly." She said as she moved over to the edge of the building as Val disappeared behind the steel doors of the elevator. Her gaze just followed the moving lights of the cars below as she thought of what to do.
Loud roars and hissing of wind echoed through Monte's ears as she was settled just inside the Mentor Control room. She couldn't really remember where she was as she stared blankly at the corner of the wall. Why was there strange fabric shifting noises mixing into the scenery of the forest before the Feast? Slowly, she began to come to from her slowly sinking memory and looked up at what was near her. A GameMaker Assistant was standing by her talking with one of the Peace Keepers talking about the tributes.
Tilting her head, Monte began to listen to what they had to think - most of the tributes were already dead to the Victor below them. They were talking of how the lower districts still had no chance of surviving. Her eyes drifted to the screen, listening to them begin to debate about the training scores. District 9 Female was still alive; she was even paired with the Careers still. Confusion registered in her mind as she looked up at the Game Maker and whoever he was speaking to under the uniform.
"What about District 9? Amira Peirce or whatever he name is." Monte stood, hesitantly since her legs had began to fall asleep under her wait. She laid her glaring gaze on the two. She may not have been from the lower districts, but her memory of her Victory was blaring in her mind. They began to speak in a calm tones in the defense of their opinions.
Yet, they were obviously falling on deaf ears as Montella's hands began to ball into fists and relax again. Instead of replying to them when they asked her next opinion, she simply let her fist answer. No one had struck a Game Maker in a year or so, so the Game Maker wasn't expecting it when Monte's smaller sized fist connected with his jaw and she came down on top of him to deliever two more blows before the Peace Keeper wrenched her off of him.
Other Peace Keepers came over and attempted to restrain Monte. A few of them in their attempts, Monte delievered a kick to one of their guts and another blow to one of the others faces. She may have been small but all of her time alone had left her with little to do other than tinker with electricity and work out. This just happened to be a bad night for her to have a breaking point on a Game Maker with the thoughts swirling through her mind of what they did to people.
With adrenaline and thoughts pumping swiftly, it took four Peace Keepers to restrain the petite Victor. A fifth one brought a needle and inserted a sedative into the anti-clavital area of Monte's arm. The four Peace Keepers held her and escorted her from the Control Room.

Eventually Montella returned to the Control Room. She didn't look to out of sorts, so Val just ignored her as she made her way to a seat on the other side of the room. The older victor just redirected her attention back to the Games - with both of her District's tributes dead, there really wasn't much for her, but she didn't really have much else to do and they probably wouldn't let her leave anyways, or at least not let her go anywhere she might be seen in public... After all she was an important part of the Games... At least in the eyes of the Capitol's general public - it wouldn't do to see her wandering about the city as the games were taking place, especially since watching was mandatory.
It didn't take long for something else far more interesting to take place. One moment Monte had been simply sitting beside one of the gamemakers and the next she was punching him in the face. Val didn't quite know why, but she wished she did. The gorgeous victor continued to watch as Monte pummeled the man's face and a couple more peacekeepers came in to restrain her. It didn't take long for them to get a needle in her arm and Val watched as her struggles slowed and they removed her from the room. Val had seen it before, but never from one like the younger girl - usually it was one of the drunks, or even one of the ones unbalanced by morphling.
So Val just sat and drank as she watched as the Games continued to play out. Things were starting to cool down as the various tributes took refuge for the night and eventually they were all dismissed.
The first place Val went was to the medical level where she assumed they were keeping Montella. Sure enough, there she was still passed out and strapped down to one of the beds - standard procedure for a mental break like Monte's. At least that's what the medical chart had called it. Val had no idea whether or not she was supposed to be there or not, but the peacekeepers made no move to stop her and Val casually took a seat beside the bed as she waited for the younger girl to wake up.

Montella groaned softly as she came to. What the hell was she thinking when she attacked the Game Maker? She shook her head a bit, trying to relieve her mind from the grogginess the sedative had left. Fearing that there were lights on, she attempted to move her hand to block the light from her eyes when she opened them. Even more to her fear, she felt the straps hold down her arm. At first she simply locked up fully, the grogginess of the sedative and her mental workings were not running together very well.
Her muscles fully locked, Monte breathed out very slowly and tried to regain herself; she was trying to tell herself she wasn't back in the Games again. Her awareness was slowly coming back and she realized there was someone else beside her. She waited a few moments before timidly asking, "W-who's there?"
The young victor was stuck between being utterly terrified and attempting to flee even with the restraints. The restraints were sending her back to the Arena to where she had to murder her own District Partner thanks to the Careers. Her breathing was coming in slow pants as her mind slipped back towards the Arena, but she was mentally forcing herself to stay in the in between space by sheer willpower of not wanting to be sent to the Asylum if she did break.

Val was wondering the same thing as Montella. Why attack the gamemaker? It hadn't appeared as though she'd been provoked, but she'd been wrong before. Still, it seemed decidedly out of character... Perhaps it really was mental instability like the chart had said. Maybe all the stress had finally gotten to the younger victor, maybe she'd just lost it. Eventually Val decided there was no point in speculating, she'd get answers once the girl woke up - at least she thought she would.
Lucky for Val she didn't have to wait long as Montella began to stir.
"W-who's there?"
It was a sane enough question, but Val couldn't help but wonder why she didn't just open her eyes and look for herself. Of course she didn't know what sort of horrors she was reliving in her own mind. Val had her own as well, but she managed to keep them in check for her father's sake. But maybe Monte really had had some sort of mental break? "How about you open your and see for yourself?" Val laughed lightly, the sound clear and musical. The older victor just waited for Monte to adjust and open her eyes. Though the sound of her voice may have been enough to recognize her.
"So... do you remember what happened?" Val asked curiously. "Do you know how you got here?" Attacking gamemakers, while not unheard of was rather rare. And what Val really wanted to know was why? Surely she'd seen it happen before - there was really nothing to be gained from it... And even if you managed to kill them it would probably only result in the death of one of your friends or family members. "You know you really ought to be careful who you beat when you're in the Capitol," Val said casually. Although if they ask you to, that's a different story... Of course Val was unaware of Monte's lack of family - while the Capitol had Val's father, she didn't know what they might be able to hold over the younger girl.

Monte breathed deeply and exhaled slowly and a small smile couldn't help but spread across her lips as she heard Valeria's voice. A slight smirk curved upwards onto the right side of her lips as she answered in a slightly quivering voice, "At least it's someone who won't hurt me to badly for doing something stupid." Despite the quivering, it was obvious she was trying to joke about the situation. Another soft exhale and she slowly opened her eyes to let them adjust to the light. She groaned a little bit as the light burned her eyes, but turned her head on the pillow to look over at Valeria.
Monte looked at Val for a few moments after she asked her question. She shook her head and looked up at the ceiling. She had seen the replay of her Games when she let her Tributes what it to see how she won. Little did any of the others know of what the District 1 Female had actually done to her partner. It wasn't completely unnormal for tributes to just go missing and be anounced dead if something else more exciting was going on, and so, that was what Monte assumed they played it off as. She lay there in silence before realizing Valeria had told her what the Capitol had done to her.
With a deep breath, she nodded to answer Val's question. "I remember how I got here, I had been sitting in the corner and I had over heard the Game Maker talking to the Peace Keeper about the tributes. I got up and defended the District Nine girl and then they had began to throw back their two senses... Instead of answering, I knocked the hell out of the Game Maker." She recited the story, slightly proud of herself for finally giving into doing something about her anger at the Heirarchy in general - even if it wasn't much of an accomplisment when she'd get in trouble later for it.
Monte shrugged a bit. "I think I would have broken his neck if I was given the chance after I had hit him a bit more." The remark wasn't snide, but it held only truth as her eyes laid back on Val. "I just... lost it a bit." She admitted after a moment; the pride and smile fading totally from her voice and face. She shook her head and looked away at the door, glaring at it a bit as she thought about the District 1 Female. "Valeria, you know more than me about the Capitol... Why would they censor out something that was cruel and probably rather entertaining for some of the sick minds here in the said Capitol?"

"At least it's someone who won't hurt me to badly for doing something stupid."
"Don't get too far ahead of yourself," Val joked back with a rare genuine smile. Obviously she had no intention of hurting the other victor, but if Monte was going to try and laugh at it she would too. Still, the fact of the matter was that she had attracted attention to herself. And if was a different kind that the type Val got... What Monte now had were the eyes of the Capitol officials on her rather than the people themselves - and honestly it was quite a bit worse. Rebellious victors were... well not good.
Val nodded as Monte finished recounting her story. "I see," she replied slowly as she mulled over what the younger girl had said. It wasn't as bad as it could have been. Anger at the way the Games were played was, while still not good, not as bad as it could be.
The gorgeous victor smirked as Monte mentioned breaking the man's neck - she briefly wondered if it was a reference to the way she'd executed a few of the tributes in her own games. "I guess so," she nodded in agreement. Monte had definitely lost it for a moment there, perhaps she could just go with the whole temporarily insanity bit?
"Valeria, you know more than me about the Capitol..."
What came next really wasn't the type of thing that they could discuss her. Honestly it was a dangerous subject no matter where you were - the Capitol had eyes everywhere. Still, Val wondered how much they would really care about Val enlightening the other girl. On one had they might completely ignore it... on the other they might execute her father. Could answering be considered treason? Val wasn't sure she wanted to find out.
There was an abnormally long break in the conversation as Val considered what Monte was asking. After a while, rather than giving a full explanation, Val just shook her head. "The Games aren't just for the Capitolites," she replied slowly, careful not to say too much. Basically what she meant was that while entertaining those in the Capitol was important, it wasn't worth inciting riots in the Districts... They wanted to use the Games as a mean to control the Districts, keep them beaten down, not something to anger them - at least not too much. Hopefully Monte understood because Val really wasn't at liberty to say more at the moment - in fact, she might not ever be able to fully explain what she meant. Perhaps under the correct circumstances, but not now.

Montella shook her head a bit after the vague answer. What was she suppose to do with that? She didn't understand it, but she figured the memory was locked far enough from the rest of the Capitolites she could say something. When she was about to speak however, she faltered. Her eyes drifted back to Val and wondered how much was at stake for the beautiful female sitting next to her if she actually did tell her.
"Theoretically... If I know something that was censored, or perhaps just uncovered in the Games, and it was my own, my telling you risks whatever you have right?" She worded it carefully, but precisely to the point. Monte didn't want to get Val hurt, even if she didn't know her well. Val had her own problems to worry about other than holding a secret of Monte's - even if the secret was beginning to eat at the younger victor.
She slowly swallowed, it was a heavy sound for such small noise. Monte shook her head again, quickly saying, "Never mind, don't answer that question." Her thoughts were sinking in as her guilt was starting to register in her mind. She had hoped the slight slip up didn't add up to anything, but she already knew she had done the damage if there was any to be made.
Montella groaned, almost wishing away her life. Her arms strained themselves in attempt to get out of the straps to no real degree of success. She began to mutter soft curses at herself as she glared down at the restraints. Whatever she thought she had done, she was beginning to think she deserved it.
The brief moments lost in her thoughts were sending her pulse faster. The pounding was beginning to be audible in her ears as she closed her eyes. The younger Victor was almost tempted to let herself slip back into the memory to be locked up, but she didn't know what that would do to help if she had already ruined more than just her own well being.

It was clear that Montella hadn't quite understood what Val had been talking about. Really, she couldn't blame the other girl either, she hadn't exactly been completely clear. Of course she honestly couldn't be - at least she didn't think so. And one really didn't test the Capitol that way, not unless they'd already lost everything. And Val was just one person away from reaching that tipping point.
"Theoretically... If I know something that was censored, or perhaps just uncovered in the Games, and it was my own, my telling you risks whatever you have right?"
Val waived off the other girl's retraction. The damage was already, done whatever Val had to say about it would be of little consequence. "Theoretically, you should keep it to yourself," the beautiful victor replied. The Capitol censored things for a reason and to go around blabbing about them was a good way to culture disfavor with officials. "Our illustrious president and his highly qualified staff must keep certain things from the public to ensure that Panem continues to thrive," she said carefully, making sure to keep any trace of sarcasm from her voice. But even without it Monte would probably pick up on the fact that Val didn't quite mean what she'd been saying.
Naturally Val was well aware that things were censored during the Games. In the Control Room they had eyes on all of the tributes whenever possible. Had Val cared to watch Monte a bit closer during her Games, she probably would have seen the censored kill in question. Unfortunately she'd probably been to preoccupied with her own District's tributes - not that it had done them any good. Honestly, while District Two had victors at least somewhat frequently it was always hard to mentor some young kid knowing that they would most likely be dead within the next week or two.
"Get some rest," Val suggested as she got back to her feet. "I'm sure we'll run into each other again soon," she added as she walked out of the room, her heels clicking against the tiled floor as she left the other victor to her thoughts.
