She turned around and faced Grey before burying her face in his chest. She gripped her tiny fists into the t-shirt he'd worn to bed and took a deep breath, calming her slightly. "I'm scared to go back. She says people want me, but how can they when Tristan is one of the most influential men in the city? They believe him rather than me. I don't know how I'll face walking around that place knowing that that's where all this drama started. I don't want to remember it all and I don't want to be overwhelmed." She felt Grey's arms tighten around her as she was picked up off the floor.
"I'm scared of them out there. They don't like me and what I do. You three may think I have talent and I may love it but that's going to get me no where if people don't want me... They just want to mock me when I go back 'cause some rival will have my high standing place and I'll be starting at the bottom again..." She trailed off after she realised she'd been rambling a fair bit.

Grey tried his best to comfort Rae. He knew that what she said wasn't true, he knew that people wouldn't treat her that way. That she was too well liked and to good at her job to lose her position. But the only way he could truly prove that to her was by making her go back to work to see it for herself. Only, he couldn't force her to do that.
He carried her back into the living room, stroking her hair gently, and settled onto the sofa with her in his lap. He reached out a hand to tilt her chin away from his shoulder so that she was looking at him. "Rae. You're amazing and people do like you. Trust me on this, when you go back to work things will be great." He said firmly, but he could tell she didn't believe him.
Grey took a deep breath and grinned. "I didn't want to have to bring this up, but girl, if you don't go back to work then we are going to have no money... Cause we both know how much I fail at making money with my art and seriously, can you imagine me with a proper job?" He winked at her.

Rae actually managed to laugh in the situation. She knew it was going to be difficult to go back to work, but when Grey put it like that; even in his odd way, she knew she had to do something about it. She shook her head softly and smiled. "I'll go okay. But will you come with me? All of you?" She looked around the room and was met with nods from Patrick and Walter. She turned back to Grey and raised her eyebrow. "Please?" She whispered up at him before snuggling into his chest.
"But then again, I think you may want to stay here to have a think about your sexuality. I think you've been spending far too much time listening to Pat and Walts. Maybe you do bat for the same team." And then that earnt her a tickle war from her true best friend that knew every place.

Grey chuckled as he tickled Rae. He was glad that she was going back to work, and he especially didn't mind going with her. That way he could ward off any asshole that risked hurting her or making her upset. He was going to protect her. And having Patrick and Walter there to would make it more fun. But he was not ok with her questioning his sexuality, not when he was trying to persuade her to go out with him.
"Take it back! You know full well I'm a man who loves the ladies!" He teased, tickling her harder. "Or else are you saying that you're not a girl?"

Rae could not stop laughing that at some point Grey hit her most ticklish spot she couldn't breathe properly, let alone speak. She held up her hands in surrender and caught her breath back before looking up at him. She looked over to the other side of the room and Patrick and Walter were making out. Again! "GUYS!" They jumped apart and she giggled. Then they advanced to her and she hid into Grey before she realised that he was tickling her as well.
She held up her hands for them all to stop and give her a minute. "Okay, guys I'm sorry. Go back to eating each others faces off. And Grey. I know you love the ladies." She put emphasis on the word ladies, to show him his slip up. That made him sound like a player and she knew full well that he wasn't. "But then again, that could just be for the fashion sense." And then the round of tickling began again.

Grey was laughing harder then he had done in a long time. It felt like they were just being kids again. It was nice. Walter and Patrick disappeared almost as quickly as they had come to his aid. Grey sighed internally, knowing what they were up to. He tickled Rae as hard as he could. Trying to get her back for her comments. He knew she was joking and teasing but he wanted to think of something to prove to her that he was definitely not gay.
He stopped tickling her for a moment and smiled cheekily at her. He lent forward and kissed her firmly but soft, full on the lips before pulling back and grinning at her cheekily. "Does that prove I'm straight?!"

Rae laughed softly, her voice ringing out in a house that had only seen pain and heartache in the last few weeks. She was finally feeling more like herself. Her body still wasn't back to normal and she still found it hard to eat, but her friends were helping her. Her best friend in particular. Being with him just made everything seem right.
When he pulled away from the kiss she felt her cheeks flush a deep shade of red and she decided to be cheeky. "Nope." She said, popping the 'p'. "Not at all. That was a sad excuse for a kiss. That's one of those kisses men give to women when they are forced to." She grinned cheekily before he started tickling her again. She couldn't quite catch her breathe now, so when he gave her a tiny break she forced words out. "I still think you need to have a think about whether you want to join them up there."

Grey was a little shocked. She had to be lying. Surely Rae was lying, just teasing him. He knew very well that he was a good kisser. He reckoned that she knew it too. It must just be her teasing, but there was a little doubt in the back of his mind. He tickled her further, enjoying how she seemed to squeal with delight. It was a nice sound to hear, her laughter.
He paused with the torture for a moment and looked ta her seductively. "well if my kisses don't prove it... there are always, other things I could do!"

Rae cheeks flushed a little and she felt like a little girl again when they'd been playing. But the thing was, they'd never once been sexual about anything, they were merely just best friends. Now it seemed all different, they were best friends and so much more. She sighed and held her hands up in true surrender. "Okay, okay, I lied. You're kiss proved everything, but I know you're not gay anyway. Not when it took you a while to accept that Pat was." She grinned up at him from where she lay and realised for the first time that he was somewhat lying over the top of her. Her thoughts didn't help her much either when her subconscious told her she liked being where she was.
She flickered her gaze back up to him and just looked into his eyes, getting slightly lost. Then without really thinking her words through she began to speak. "I've wanted to be able to kiss you for years, pretty much since a year after Tristan. Sure there were other guys, but I never wanted to let them in. I just somehow fell for you and I guess it was inevitable seeing as you're my best friend. But I never wanted to tell you 'cause I knew you didn't see me that way. You had Fontanna and you were happy. When you broke up with her I thought I might stand a chance, but she took over your thoughts. So I figured if getting you back with her made you happy it didn't matter that you didn't know how I felt." She smiled softly as she felt tears in her eyes. "As long as you were happy, I was okay. I hated how you were after she broke up with you and I'm still sorry that it was my fault. I guess people just don't trust me around you..."
She trailed off as the tears slowly trickled down her cheeks. She sniffed softly and titled her head to the side, to partly hide it and to look away from Grey. It was sad to think that that had been her life for the past few years.

Grey stared at her for a few moments. Was it true? Had she really like him for so long? He cursed himself for not noticing it sooner. He, no they, could have been happy for a long time if he had paid attention to Rae rather than pined for that bitch then everything would have been so different.
He reached out a hand and turned her face back to his. Wiping away a stray tear with his thumb. He had caused her to cry and it broke his heart."oh Rae... I'm so sorry. I was such an idiot. I should've known sooner. I should've left her the moment I knew she didn't like you. But I'm a stupid male and she fed my ego. I couldn't believe I was lucky enough to get a girl like her that I didn't want to let go. Only, I had someone who was a million times better who meant the world to me. I'm sorry that I didn't realise how I felt about you sooner, then I could have saved us all this trouble. Can you forgive me?"

Rae shook her head with a sad smile, "There's nothing to forgive." She whispered softly before cupping his cheeks softly and placing the lightest of kisses on his lips. She wanted to do more, but she wasn't ready. It was still strange to her that Grey wanted to kiss her. After all these years of accepting that it was never going to go anywhere, and yet here they both were lying with each other and kissing. It was strange but she was sure going to get used to it.
She pulled away and smiled up at him softly. "Do you think we should get ready for the day? I think I might want breakfast for the first time." Her shy turned shy as his eyes widened and he leapt off of her, dragging her up and spinning her around. She laughed loudly and wrapped her arms and legs around Grey, giggling as he carried on. She heard pounding of feet and she looked up to see Patrick and Walter with even more mused up hair as they stood in the doorway with confused expressions.
"Whoa. Who go engaged?"
Rae's eyebrows furrowed and shook her head. "No one, idiots. I just said I might want breakfast." And then it was Patrick's and Walter's turn to jump around the room like crazed idiots. "Er guys?" Everyone one of them stopped, but she still stayed in Grey's arms with her legs wrapped around his waist. "I know you're happy and all, but I have a serious question. Where you two," She pointed to Patrick and Walter, "doing it again in my spare room?" The both looked sheepish and Rae's cheeks just flushed as she hid her head in Grey's neck. "I hate you guys."
Then she was met with a round of laugher. Her head shot up and she giggled softly. "God guys. I'm not that innocent, it's just weird to think of you two doing it. I'm perfectly fine with it normally." She was met with raised eyebrows and she just shrugged, grinning softly.

Grey looked at Rae and beamed. He couldn't explain why he was feeling so happy but he had a pretty good idea that it had something to do with the fact that maybe Rae was starting to be herself again. She was choosing to eat. She might be going back to work. She was being her old self and that was the best thing that could ever happen.
He held onto her tightly, relishing the feeling of her lips against his. He didn't even care that Patrick and Walter were making fun of them. He couldn't care about anyone else but him and Rae. She was the most important thing in the world to him right now. He buried his face into her neck to stifle his giggles, shaking his head softly.
"Come on you crazy girl... I'm getting you food before you change your mind!"

Rae chuckled softly and smacked him playfully on the arm, "Woman. I am all woman. Not a girl thank you very much." She grinned cheekily up at him from where he still held her before she wriggled out of his arms and her feet planted softly on the floor. She slowly and tentatively reached out and entwined her fingers with Grey's, but she couldn't look at him as she did so. She just turned slightly and headed to the kitchen.
She turned back once she sat on one of the bar stools to see Patrick and Walter trying to sneak off. "You two are not going anywhere. You are going to sit in here with us and have a nice breakfast. Am I understood?" She raised her eyebrow and tried to look serious, but ended up grinning over to them as they made their way over.
"Always a kill joy you are."
"Pat!" Rae gasped in mock horror. "How could you be so cruel?" She turned her head away and winked at Grey to let him know she was actually okay. "How could you? I know I'm no fun okay? I get that, but why did you have to say something like that." She rested her head on the table and made her laughing look like crying as she put in a few fake sniffs here and there. "I didn't mean to, you know that."
She felt a hand placed gently on her back and her name being called softly. "Rae? Shit, of course I never meant it like that. C'mon Rae, you know I didn't."
"He's right gorgeous. He would never hurt you, none of us would." Walter was getting involved to.
At that moment she shot up in her seat, groaning a little from the ache that washed through her back. Her ankles had pretty much healed, there were just a few scabs and horrendous scars left. Her back was another matter. Movement still hurt and there were still plenty of gashes that hadn't fully healed. The rest of it was still bruised and now starting to scar up pretty badly.
She grinned at Patrick and Walter and laughed at their reactions. "Got you!"
